Jone Johnson Lewis has been the Leader of the Northern Virginia Ethical Society since 1997, and has been an Ethical Culture Leader since 1991. (A Leader is the Ethical movement's equivalent of a clergyperson.)

She has also served as the Leader of the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, the minister of the Berrien (Michigan) Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, and Interim Executive Director of the American Ethical Union [1]. She is a 1991 graduate of Meadville/Lombard Theological School [2] in Chicago, a Unitarian Universalist institution. She is also a graduate of the Humanist Institute and has twice served as a mentor in that institution. She is an ordained Unitarian Universalist [3] minister as well as a certified Ethical Culture Leader.

Before returning to school to become a humanistic religious leader and minister, Jone had a career in the business world, as a computer programmer and analyst, trainer, and manager. Her last position was as a department director of a multi-site information technology education and training department for a large insurance company.

She's also the mother of two grown sons, stepmother of three, and grandmother or stepgrandmother of six. She's been married to Bill Lewis since 1999.
