"Science, Scientism, and Ethical Culture" -- Joe Maxwell, NoVES member and professor, George Mason Univeristy.

Partly in response to fundamentalist attacks on evolution, some scientists have launched a counterattack, not just against fundamentalism, but against religion in general. Their claim is that science and religion are incompatible, and that science is the only valid source of knowledge (a position often labeled "scientism"). What are the implications of scientism, and of critiques of this view, for Ethical Culture?
