Welcome!![]() Ethics Is Our Religion Notable QuotesDreams are among our most precious possessions. We hold that dreams are not just for the night alone, but they are the stuff of daylight, outreachings of a better self, of a better tomorrow. Where our dreams meet, we may find one another, and a new life may be born. We cannot free people, but we can remove obstacles to their freedom and help them free themselves. We cannot make people want to live, but we can help remove the barriers to their living the conditions that kill the love of life. We cannot make people love one another, but we can bring them together, break down the walls and believe and try. Ethical Societies near the Northern Virginia Ethical Society: |
Sunday School for EthicsEthics for Children
Our mission as a school community is to promote ethical behavior through educational experiences, including social activism, so that students will be good world citizens in the broadest sense, will be fulfilled, and will contribute to making the world a better place. Every Sunday that NoVES meets, we either have Sunday School or an intergenerational program. Children start each Platform meeting in the auditorium with the adults, and most children (of all ages!) enjoy our weekly children's story. After the story, teachers and children leave the auditorium for Sunday School in other rooms in the building.
Family Listening Room A room with comfortable chairs for adults, a carpeted play space for children, and audio access to the platform presentation and discussion is available every week, so parents of very young ones can hear the platform as their children play near them. Non violent toys and multicultural books are available for the children, so they can play, move around and make noise as they need to. We will consider having a childcare person to staff this room if requested. Babies and young children are welcome in the main platform room when they are quiet and not distracting to the other listeners. We offer the listening room as an alternative to respect children’s needs to be active and listeners needs to hear and concentrate on the platform. (The room is not set up on festival days as all ages are welcome in the main room for festivals.) Curriculum for Three Years Old and Up Is available under Sunday School Curriculum.
